I don't remember the first time I heard Chuck, but it was before I realized you guys are friends. Must have been a podcast for his narcissist book. Since listening to Brian Lee and his spiritual abuse story and listening to Chuck and his spiritual abuse story, I've come to a sort of conclusion there are two churches. There's the church filled with the highly educated who struggle with unresolved rupture and repair. You all operate in this separate realm. You need us ordinary, it's hard to lead if nobody follows, but our experiences are totally different.

The biggest difference Chuck aluded to in the recording, the ability to be in the same room with the people you are influencing. And are influencing you. That right brain to right brain experience that does not happen the same through a zoom call. I've had extraordinary experiences with amazing people through Curt's CBK groups. But . . . I want a face to face CBK group because of what Chuck named. It is different!

The other is the employee versus volunteer thing. People like you guys, and other people with lots of education and experience with spiritual things, generally do not have time to be with people. Last Sunday my pastor gave a 25 minute message with very insightful points. One on 100. Wednesday, I facilitated a study with 6 gals and started the gatherings with one of his points as the container to set up the conversation of the study. We talked for 90 minutes and they shared experiences. I doubt any of them had gone back and listened to the message. They liked it, but if I hadn't brought it up it was over for them. Each received 90 minutes of undivided attention from 6 others who heard the same message. Who's more impactful? I can't do what I do without the message. But a 25 minute message once a week can hardly compete with "Americans spend an average of 5 hours and 16 minutes per day on their phones. This translates to roughly 36 hours and 52 minutes per week." Google AI

So when you do a podcast, like this one, are you speaking to other professionals? It sounds like us ordinary aren't even an after thought. Fact is we're the main event.

I would suggest you find a woman over 55 who's focus has shifted from parenting or what she tought was her calling to spiritual things and find out what she does with this information you and Chuck create. Because it's a HUGE resource for making disciples. We're not looking for a job. We actually believe what Jesus says and want encounter. But we aren't used well by the professional organizations/leaders. You all have acquired this American Dream in this area called spirituality, but you don't actually have time for us. You're too busy. We don't have enough time left in this body to get accredited, so we listen to experts not available and try to cobble together Jesus truth and talk to others. Chuck's right, we're not "professionals", we're ordinary trying to influence well without any real help.

There's a missing piece.

Hopefully some helpful feedback here. I was really interested in reading this transcript (I wasn't in a place where I could listen), but was unable to make it through due to the considerable amount of bridge expressions, such as um or ah it contains. It completely disrupted the flow of the conversation, especially when trying to speed read. It would be so much better if those expressions could be edited out of the transcript. Otherwise, really enjoying this Substack. Thanks!
